World Magnetic Model Out-of-Cycle Release

The northern magnetic pole is moving quickly, which prompted the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) to update the World Magnetic Model sooner than expected.  This article explains how the World Magnetic Model is used in everyday applications and why the update was important.


Drones shown to make traffic crash site assessments safer, faster and more accurate

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana has used UAS technology since 2018 to map vehicle crash scenes.  The technology has allowed them to map a crash scene in 5-8 minutes, instead of 2-3 hours using traditional methods, and has allowed them to reopen roads much faster after an accident.
