NG9-1-1 GIS Guidelines and Best Practices

Document Text:

The finalized Arizona NG9-1-1 GIS Guidelines and Best
Practices is now available!

As a group, we’ve been meeting, learning, and developing a
better way of doing business for Arizona 9-1-1 GIS since August 2012.  One
of the first goals we set for our group was to create a manual that provided
guidance to Arizona’s GIS professionals on how to create, maintain and validate
GIS for 9-1-1 systems.  To that end, the 9-1-1 Working Group Technical
Committee was formed in February 2013 comprised of a group of individuals
willing to share their time, knowledge, and expertise.  Four (4) years
later, the work of the Technical Committee, and the Working Group as a whole,
is realized and available.  It’s been a long trek of learning; waiting for
national standards to be realized; and documenting the ideas, discussions,
practices, (etc.) that we found most important to the GIS community and to
9-1-1 as a whole.  You should feel very proud of this achievement.

For the document to remain relevant and useful, we will
need to review and update annually.  I hope you will continue to be a part
of this process in the future.  Feel
free to pass on to anyone you believe could benefit from the information.
While it is geared towards the 9-1-1 community, the information is in no way
limited to 9-1-1.
