Cornell Library's Persuasive Maps Collection

A collection of “persuasive” cartography: ​more than 800 ​ maps intended primarily to influence opinions or beliefs - to send a message - rather than to communicate geographic information. The collection reflects a variety of persuasive tools ​, including​ allegorical, satirical and pictorial mapping; selective inclusion; unusual use of projections, color, graphics and text; and intentional deception. Maps in the collection address a wide range of messages: religious, political, military, commercial, moral and social.

Educational Attainment in America

Educational Attainment in America is an interactive dot-density map of the US population aged 25 and over by educational attainment. Data are summarized into five categories, which represent the highest education attained: less than high school; high school or equivalent; some college or associate's degree; bachelor's degree; and graduate degree. Data are from the 2011-2015 American Community Survey

US military uses map of DC for Trump's inauguration

Presidential inaugurations require a massive amount of coordination for both the celebration and security. To help plan it all out, the US military does what's called a "Rehearsal of Concept" (ROC) drill — which involves using a massively large map to plan the entire inauguration process.
