Geospatial Data Act Signed Into Law

The Geospatial Data Act of 2018 passed both the US House of Representatives and US Senate and was signed into law by the President on October 5, 2018.  It will be included as a component of the FAA Reauthorization Act (H.R. 302, P.L. 115-254).

Back in 1973, George Etzel Pearcy, a California State University geography professor, proposed re-drawing the map of the nation, reducing the number of states to 38, and giving each state a different name.This is interesting to re-examine, and the logic is -if nothing else- fun to consider.  We bring this forth anew, in light of  proposals in California asking for significant map changes.
